Add Flickr and Shotwell photos to the Dash via Unity Photo lens
One Hundred Scopes is am amazing, productive project that aims to produce and deliver scopes and lenses in order to enrich Unity's functionality, adding features suited for numerous tastes, needs and desires.
An interesting detail is the fact that, it seems, the project tries to sustain its name (one hundred) literally, probably continuing this productive road, thus properly touching a large range of user types.
Unity Photo lens brings photography management in the Dash, combining both online and offline/local sources.
The local items are brought by the Shotwell scope, that gathers imported pictures (to import images in Shotwell, Shotwell-->File-->Import From Folder), exposing them in the Photo lens.
Opening a Shotwell scope's photo is as simple as clicking on it, the picture is then opened with the default photos viewer.
Flickr scope provide, as its name says, easy acces to Flickr' numerous online-stored images.
In order to enjoy this scope, you must sign in into your Flickr account.
The author made this latter step easy by adding an authorize button in the lens itself, button that patiently aspects one to click on it, then following the easy-to-use Flickr authorization steps.
After the above process is completed, search Flickr by simply typing in the search area, clicking on an found item opens it in your default web-browser.
Flickr scope comes with the More results button, handy places at the ending of the search&found&displayed items, clicking on it exposes more and mopre results (Google Images-like experience).
Filters are part of Unity Photo lens, too, categorizing the photos by Date and Taken by.
How do we install Unity Photo lens 0.1?
Add the following official PPA (Oneiric, Precise)
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:scopes-packagers/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install unity-lens-photo unity-scope-flickr unity-scope-shotwell
Then, reboot your computer,
