Add, organize and access text and image files via MyShelf, fancy visual board
Browsing the web, reading books, exploring picture albums, watching TV shows, etc, can trigger items of interest that, for various reasons (note collections, later usage, useful images gathering, etc), are to be stored, usually via "unidirectional" software, such note-taking applications (for text), web-browsers (bookmarks), picture managers (images), etc, consequently, the user needs to open multiple apps to access different file formats, with loses in speed, user energy, etc.
MyShelf is an all-in-one like tool that features a fancy area where elements of interest are to be placed, such as text and images, items categorized and displayed on a "canvas" properly aligned and exposed, basically a virtual board useful for "You've found an exciting recipe on the web - shelf it/You're tasting a great new wine - shelf it/You've just had a cool idea which you wish to note - shelf it" .
Its main view is represented by a squared white-ish pattern, where added items are displayed in groups with big rounded thumbnails, as such: the text file is visible and scrollable, the images feature clear previews.
Adding an item is doable via the toolbar's Add button, action followed by typing and/or pasting text with support for large text sizes (and links), images and clipboard (clicking the clipboard button, automatically adds the clipboard's stored piece of text).
The above mentioned actions create a pack of previews (of actual longer files) and, in order to access the full version of added files, click the open button, that appears when the mouse pointer is hovered over categories (next to the date).
Clicking (and thus selecting) on a thumbnail, allows user to move, delete and save files (in order to move it, click&hold&drag the middle-top red circle).
MyShelf comes with proper view sizes (small, medium and big thumbnails) and filters (Modification date, Creation date, Subject, Show normal, Show archived, etc).
Locating items is hassle-free, regardless of user's numerous added elements, via the filterable Search area (Subject only, Text elements only, etc).
MyShelf 1.0 is available for free in Ubuntu Software Center.
