Automatically generate new variations of the Ubuntu phone OS-inspired wallpaper via a script
Along with numerous qualities and functionalities, Ubuntu for phones' home screen has been immediately noticed and visually appreciated by users, basically, the phone OS' home screen contains, in its center, an interesting rounded shape, generating a non-disturbing elegant look & feel.
In the creative Ubuntu community, mivoligo created a desktop wallpaper (inspired by the original Ubuntu for phones' home screen), followed by Michael Hall who added numerous flavors to mivoligo's Inspire background.
Furthermore, Rafał Cieślak has taken the project a step further, creating a script that automatically changes/cycles the desktop wallpaper with variations of the original phone OS-based image, consequently, running the script renders on the desktop the same background but in different colors.
The implemented colors are yellow in the morning, green at noon, blue in the afternoon, violet in the evening and red in the night, essentially, pairing proper colors with specific day times.
In order to run the script (with built-in wallpapers), download the archive, unpack it and double-click on run, action that immediately changes the desktop wallpaper with an Ubuntu for phones-inspired fancy image.
Adding the script at startup (to be automatically launched after login) is as simple as opening Startup Applications (via the Dash by typing startup applications in the search area) and navigating to Add (at Name write desktopwall, at Command press Browse and locate the run file from inside the previously-unpacked welcome_screen folder).
