Banshee 2.6 released (official PPA available)

Banshee is a fancy powerful music player, presenting the user a clean clear interface and numerous features and plugins, such as metadata sync, ratings, Wikipedia-based artist info, DVD and audio CD support, radio, podcasts, support for numerous external devices, online sources (eMusic import, Internet Archive, last.fm, Miro, etc).

Banshee 2.6 has been released as "the culmination of six months' work by 15 developers", bringing numerous fixes and under-the-hood improvements, release created as the current stable version (the successor of Banshee 2.4).


Improved playlists, optimized device handling, fixed various mass-storage related issues, better Mpris maneuvering, etc, as well as numerous fixes, are part of the newly released Banshee 2.6.

How do we install Banshee 2.6?
Add the following official PPA (Maverick, Natty, Oneiric, Precise)

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:banshee-team/ppa

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install banshee
