Beatbox 0.5 released with new features and improvements

Beatbox is a fancy music player that exposes one's music collection in a visually pleasant manner with good-looking album cover arts, neat clickable track dialog, "real time" thumbnail-enabled search and more.

Beatbox has just been updated to version 0.5, strengthening, improving and enhancing new features and eyecandy elements introduced since the 0.4 release:

  • Unity integration with enhanced quicklist (Equalizer and Preferences included) and progressbar support (when loading the music collection)

  • new Now Playing view that displays album songs, related artist songs (clicking on a related/suggested track will open it via the default web-browser on last.fm), similar artists and popular tags
  • enhanced equalizer with built-in volume support (Beatbox-->"cog" icon-->Equalizer)
  • improved player memory (Beatbox remembers the lat used view and track's playing progress, meaning, closing Beatbox while playing a song at the minute 2:23 in the Now Playing view and reopening Beatbox, displays the same track at the minute 2:23 in the Now Playing view)
  • faster music import
  • numerous bug fixes

How do we install Beatbox 0.5?
Add the following official PPA (Precise)

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:sgringwe/beatbox

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install beatbox

Launch Beatbox via the Dash by typing beatbox in the search area.
