Calibre 0.8.61 released with handy paged mode (PPA available)

Calibre is a full-fledged e-book library management tool that, along with with a powerful e-book viewer, features book conversion, metadata tweaking, online sources, get books options, etc, basically a versatile complete e-book manager.

Calibre has been updated to another meaningful release, 0.8.61, introducing enhancements to the e-book viewer.

Opening a book, presents, in the new 0.8.61 version, a top-right scroll icons that, when clicked, transform the book's view into a paged mode, organizing and displaying the text in pages, as opposed to the "old" attitude of presenting the read text as a single column, consequently, the new reading mode presents page fully, without chopping the last lines of text, furthermore respecting the CSS page-break "instructions".

Along with the fast-activation top-right icon, the new paged mode comes with its own configuration sub-panel, under E-book viewer-->Preferences-->Text layout in paged mode, adding handy configuration options, such as Top margin, Side margin, Bottom margin, margins that are to define user's preferred reading experience.

By default, Calibre 0.8.61, if the paged mode is selected, displays the paged mode as a single page per view, nevertheless, under The number of pages of text to show on screen, more than 1 page can be selected, generating multiple pages per view, meaning, selecting 2 pages, presents a book with two pages displayed in the same time.

Along with the mentioned features, bug fixes and improved news sources (Toronto Star, American Prospect, faz.net) come to deliver a more usable, suitable for numerous reading cases release.
