Fogger adds Facebook and Wunderlist as fogapps (PPA available)
Fogger is an exciting powerful tool that allows one to easily create web apps contained in an integrated desktop "frame", featuring an enhanced (in progress) Ubuntu integration, in the sense of delivering enriched quicklists, dedicated lens, ability to launch fog apps via the Dash, etc, basically, Fogger creates distinct web instances per application, meaning every contained Fogger web app has its own separate window (with support to delete cache and/or the entire app, create user scripts per web app, add customization per web app, etc), consequently, by creating web apps with Fogger, the user isolate a specific web app from the rest of the desktop with its own isolated configurations, thus the user keeps that isolated content isolated, not interfering with the web-browser (cache, downloads, introduced accounts, etc) bringing numerous use cases (creating several social media accounts per same online service, keeping Youtube account separated from Firefox's user entered GMail account, "hiding" user' history from the default web-browser for specific websites, etc).
Fogger, as part of Ubuntu App Showdown, is to land in Ubuntu 12.04's Ubuntu Software Center in the next days.
Fogger is being developed, at the moment, with a double-sided approach, in the sense of presenting itself as split into mainly two parts: Fogger (probably the infrastructure) and Fogapps (probably predefined apps, bearing an already customized enriched look&feel with improved quicklists, badge support, etc).
Curently, there are available:
- Facebook fogapp is an enhanced Fogger app, containing a specific icon and an improved Unity launcher quicklist, useful to easily switch between Notifications, Messages, etc
- Wunderlist fogapp brings the handiness of Wundelist, an online-based task utility with numerous features (task filtering by today, tomorrow, etc, share support, polished interface) directly to the Ubuntu desktop, featuring a "native" look&feel and improved integration
