Glipper 2.1 released with "appindicator" support (Natty Narwhal)

Another day, another small but relevant update has made its way in Natty.

As we all know, the notification area was, with very few exceptions, dropped in Ubuntu 11.04, and a significant amount of really good programs are in the position of, either make that respective application compatible with appindicator, or stay with other distros/older version of Ubuntu.

Glipper 2.1, an interesting clipboard manager, is out with appindicator support (no monochrome icon yet, although a related bug on Launchpad has been confirmed by the "creator") just in time for Natty's final release.

Glipper 2.1 supports setting the "Number of items in history", a key combination for handy access (Ctrl+Alt+c), combination that can easily be changed under Glipper Preferences-->Key combination for popup (keep in mind that is key sensitive).

One definitely interesting thing is the support for plugins, you can already choose from 6 plugins: "Nopaste"-paste the entry of your keyboard to a Nopaste service, "Network"-connects multiple Glipper processes via network to synchronize its history, "New line"-adds a newline character at the end of items in the clipboard, "Actions"-you can define commands to run when an item matches a regular expression, "Grow"-deletes the previous shorter entry (detects if the current new entry is a bigger version of another previously recorded entry), "Snippets"-creates snippets from history items.

This plugins have "Preferences" where you can adjust it as you like and a "Help" that clearly explains the usage and different settings.

Tip-->by default, Glipper 2.1 records/makes a new entry from selected/highlighted text (without copying it), you may want do disable it: Glipper Preferences-->"Selection (mark/middle mouse button)" unchecked

Glipper 2.1 can be installed in Natty Narwhal via Ubuntu Software Center.

For Maverick Meerkat, add the following PPA (in Ubuntu Software Center there is an old 1.0 version):

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:glipper-drivers/ppa

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install glipper
