How to easily listen Jamendo's tracks in VLC media player 2.0.x

Jamendo is a free, legal and unlimited music community, featuring a huge base of music tracks licensed under Creative Commons licenses.

Jamendo is properly integrated into VLC 2.0's default components, consequently, it can be easily accessed:

  • first, enable the Playlist VLC-->View-->click Playlist
  • then, navigate to Internet and select Jamendo Selections (by clicking on it)

The result is: 9 TOP 100 popular this week categories (7 categorized by genre: ROCK, POP, JAZZ, DANCE, HIPHOP+RAP, WORLD+REGGAE, LOUNGE+AMBIENT) and various other selections.

The top-right search field brings handy searches through tracks.

How do we install VLC 2.0.1?
Add the following official PPA (Oneiric)

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:videolan/stable-daily

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install vlc
