Journal app RedNotebook 1.5 released with new features (official PPA available)

Writing thoughts, tracking the progress of a project, adding ideas, researching a book, etc, are actions that sometimes fit in a journal, especially when the journal is a computer application, thus providing infinite space where one can write, organize, manage, search through, etc, "stuff" as related to periods of time with numerous benefits (such as project start's enhanced accuracy, across-the-time proper evaluation, measurement against other people's discoveries in relation to one's actual time-based discoveries, etc).

RedNotebook is a versatile journal utility, that properly combines a traditional journal approach (writing text related to a calendar date) with solid editing actions and enhanced items insertion into the text field (images, web links, etc).

RedNotebook comes, by default, with support for spell checking (disabled by default, in order to enable it, navigate to RedNotebook-->Edit-->Preferences-->check Check Spelling), automatic saving, tagging, text format (bold, italic, underlined), automatic recognition of web links and email addresses (meaning, writing regular text into a journal entry and adding www.ubuntu.com and me@ubuntu.com immediately transform them into blue-ish links, clicking on a link, opens it via its default handler), backup as ZIP archive (accessible under RedNotebook-->Journal-->Backup), word clouds (exposing the frequently used words and tags), etc.

Adding numerous journal entries, obviously creates a massive base of entries, yet, locating an entry is to be easily performed via the search-as-you-type bar (situated above the tag cloud).

RedNotebook comes with handy export support, consequently, by accessing RedNotebook-->Journal-->Export, the user is able to export RedNotebook's data as HTML, Latex, PDF, and Plain Text.

RedNotebook has been updated to version 1.5, adding, along with various bug fixes, new minor yet usability-wise features, that are to enhance one's journal handling experience.

The new 1.5 release introduces a new redesigned icon, providing a more up-to-date logo.

Enhanced remembrance for undo/redo (in relation to each day), display of the last added tag when a new tag is created/about-to-be-created, support for new Python version (migrating from 2.5 to more recent 2.6 and 2.7), as well as new shortcuts (Ctrl+Home for Go to Today), etc, come to encompass a more robust, usable and strengthened RedNotebook version.
