Keep notes and journals via the lightweight Dayjournal and Journey (Ubuntu Software Center)
Daily facing opportunities, challenges, interesting news, exciting games, pleasant movies, etc, are events that occupy one's life, where "things" must be remembered (for a successful fruitful carrier, school time, work periods, etc), usually related to a period a time, not necessarily as a "full" diary-like activity, but rather as a chronological event keeper where notes are created in relation with both past and future activities.
Dayjournal is a lightweight minimalistic utility, that allows the user to maintain a hassle-free journal, bearing a simplistic interface.
Opening Dayjournal presents the user its main view, a left-side area where text is to be entered and a right-side area where the date is exposed with month, year and days.
Its usage is as simple as clicking on a day and writing text in its text area, process automatically saved, without the need of clicking a save button.
Changing the month is to be performed via month's navigation icons, approach adopted by the displayed year, too.
Dayjournal automatically saves the written content and displays the already typed content on demand, meaning, writing a note for August 16th saves the note and continues to display the note on August 16th, navigating to August 20, removes the text from the text/note area (in order to type a new note), yet clicking on August 16th displays again the note related to August 16th.
Keeping notes, especially across years, can sometimes become "dangerous" (like for instance, using an app for 2 years and, after not being maintained/developed and/or unusable under a specific Ubuntu version, lets the user with an unreadable file format), tendency removed by Dayjournal via its text file saving "nature", consequently, the saved notes can be easily opened via a regular text editor.
Dayjournal is available via Ubuntu Software Center.
Journey is a lightweight tool, useful to easily create notes via a simplistic easily graspable interface.
Its main view presents a blue-ish date area (with month, year, day) and a left-side note area, where notes are exposed, clicking on a note triggers a sub-panel where the actual note is located (featuring title, content and date).
Creating a note is to be performed by clicking the New button and introducing the available note components: title, date (selecting a custom date is as easily as clicking on it and checking the preferred date from the summoned date dialog) and note content, process automatically saved.
Deleting a note/journey is 1-click away via the top-right Delete this journey.
Journey is available via Ubuntu Software Center.
Worth mentioning
Dayjournal and Journey have been created as part of Ubuntu App Showdown.
