gtk 2.x

GNOME 3 was launched months ago, and along with awesome features, a fresh GTK+3 theme, Adwaita, appeared on our desktop.

Sonar 3.5 is an Adwaita-like GTK+2 theme that brings a feel of GNOME 3/GTK+3 on a GNOME 2/GTK+2 desktop and feels complete due to its "global" redesign approach (buttons, scrollbars, arrowstyle, menustyle, etc).

Simply Choice is a GTK 2.x theme that aims for consistency and a more compact experience by using the same color for both title-bar and tool-bar (like Ambiance was originally planned for Natty but possibly delayed to Oneiric due to the lack of appropriate icons suitable for optimal contrast with dark areas).

How do we install this theme?

The GTK 2.x theme, "A New Start", has been updated to version 1.2 bringing a configuration script (to easily install and configure conky, GTK theme, etc), an updated AWN theme and a properly readme file.

"A New Start" is a fresh, clean, pleasant GTK 2.x theme with a spring-ish design that has the same creator as Awoken icon set.

The notorious GTK theme, Elementary, has just been updated to 2.1 version after 5 month from previous 2.0 version.

Elementary theme creator, Dan Rabbit, has dropped the Aurora engine in this release and added an xfwm4 theme.
The great thing about Elementary GTK 2.1 is its compatibility with GTK 3 (shipped by default in Natty Narwhal +1, parts of it shipped already in Natty).

For installation, just add the following PPA (Maverick Meerkat only):

The creator of Orta, an awesome Ubuntu theme, released on 29 December Atolm, an awesome darker GTK 2.x theme.
Couple of hours ago, SkiesofAzel has released Atolm 0.7.5 bringing some bug fixes and a PPA.

Requirements:

• equinox gtk engine

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:tiheum/equinox

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gtk2-engines-equinox

The famous Ubuntu theme, Orta, has reached 1.01 version and, surprise, got a PPA.

Victory, a nice GTK 2.x theme, has been updated, bringing some new features like a Victory icon set (if you want to use it, download it from here), nice integration with Chrome/ium, Banshee, Shotwell and a few small fixes.

So now is the time for a family reunion!
Orta, the coolest gtk 2.x Ubuntu theme at the moment, has a little awesome brother called Awn Orta dark, obviously a theme for AWN (Avant Window Navigator).
The installation is very simple:
Go to Awn Settings/Themes/Install and select the archive.
Download from here.

Today was released Orta 0.97 which fixes some visual bugs that caused severe visual glitches when transparency was used in menu-bars.
So, what is Orta? The answer is simple, one of the coolest Ubuntu themes ever created.

How do we install it?
First download&exstact it, then
--if you have a previous version of Orta installed, double click on OrtaSettingsManager.py and press uninstall. Then right click on the desktop, Change desktop bacground/ Theme/ Install.

After that, open OrtaSettingsManager.py and customize it to fit your needs.

Lucidity, an ubuntu theme, was just updated to version 2.1, bringing some changes like changing the colour scheme to flat grey, rounded buttons, nice menu contrast and much more.
This theme comes in a .deb package and installs both left buttons version and right buttons! I must say it's kinda macish look an feel and also, by default, changes the mouse theme to dmz black.
