Ubuntu App Showdown's community-only voting process opened

Ubuntu App Showdown

Weeks ago, the developers launched an exciting contest, aimed at gathering developers from all over the internets with the main purpose of creating applications that, after being subjected to an official voting process, won prizes.

The until-at-the-moment prizes have been already "transfered" to participants, being presented as gold, silver and bronze, bundle of rewards judged by official non-community members.

The mentioned approach is the first step of Ubuntu App Showdown, followed by the just announced community-based voting process, where community users are to vote for preferred applications.

The voting process is to be valid two weeks (until August 29th 2012), community effort that is to further reward the first three highest rated apps with a Nokia N9 smartphone.

One definitely interesting aspect of the voting process is the tolerant approach, meaning, the to-be-voted developers can modify their applications during the voting process, consequently, there is to probably be the "natural" ability to fix bugs, resolve crashes, etc, issues generated by the short amount of time allowed for the Showdown (three weeks).

Due to the "huge" size of applications pushed for the Showdown, the Ubuntu developers's landing-into-Ubuntu-Software-Center action is to further delayed, nevertheless, the user interested in voting are to install apps from their official PPAs, carefully gathered and exposed by the developers in a singular full list.

Voting an app is as simple as installing (full PPA list) the available applications and navigating to a judging sheet where the actual clickable voting is to be performed.

Further details, including handy manners of promoting apps, are to be located on http://developer.ubuntu.com/2012/08/ubuntu-app-showdown-let-the-communit...
