Ubuntu Software Center to be redesigned in Oneiric Ocelot
Although Natty is a redesigned Ubuntu with the fancy Unity shell, there were elements that remained "frozen in time", like, for instance, Ubuntu Software Center.
"Since the start of this week" Ubuntu's design team started to work on "revising the design of Ubuntu Software Center", and they even provided some interesting mockups.
So, what will the next Ubuntu Software Center feature ?
- a dark version (probably paired with Ambiance) with a big white-ish search-bar and an icon-view like structure, probably support for icon zoom, too
- a white-ish dock-based center with big icons and categories on the left-side (good choice from a touch-friendliness point of view)
- preview videos ("how-to" clips would be quite an interesting idea)
- multiple screenshot (an welcomed enhancement, as we all know, the apps from USC have just one usually outdated picture)

Some of this mockups are derived from other platform (Android Market, Mac and iPad App Stores, Blackberry App World), to, so, the final product could be entirely different (the near future will let us know what elements have been modified/redesigned/totally new created).
