Unity Calendar lens updated with time range filter (Thunderbird support via add-on available)
Unity Calendar lens providers easy access to one' Evolution-based events via the comfortable Dash.
Weeks ago, we presented this lens mainly as an Evolution only tool, nut, just now Unity Calendar lens has been updated to another interesting release, adding to its filters "Time Range" (Today, 7 Days, 30 Days, 90 Days), obviously, for a better event filtering, especially when there are numerous events.
The interesting part about the above lens is its simplicity and openness, meaning, it can easily receive events from Ubuntu's default email client, Thunderbird, by just installing an add-on, Evolution Mirror 0.2.3 (created by Teester, the author of Unity Calendar lens, too).
This add-on mirrors the addition, deletion or modification of tasks and events in Lightning (Thunderbird calendar add-on) with Evolution Data Server.
How do we install Unity Calendar lens 0.1?
Add the following official PPA (Oneiric, Precise)
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:markjtully/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install unity-calendar-lens
This lens, at the moment, depends on Evolution
sudo apt-get install evolution
If you want to use Unity Calendar lens with Thunderbird
install Lightning extension
sudo apt-get install xul-ext-lightning
then, install Evolution Mirror add-on via Thunderbird
