Versatile EPUB editor, Sigil 0.5.9, released with numerous changes and refinements
Sigil is a powerful open-source EPUB editor, presenting the user a solid amount of features, such as multiple edited document views (book, code, split), WYSIWYG editing support, option to generate table of contents, enhanced metadata editor, spell checking with numerous dictionaries, SVG support, document validator, etc, basically, an impressive bundle of features aimed at both newcomers (due to Sigil's clear intuitive interface) and versed users.
Sigil 0.5.9 has been released, integrating new features and serious changes, version created as a solid step towards the upcoming 0.6 release.
The toolbar (menus follow a similar approach) sees in-depth visual refinements and reorganization, in the sense of adopting numerous buttons, thus the user is able to more rapidly access necessary actions, like for instance the newly added Metadata Editor, Next Misspelled Word, Validate EPUB with FlightCrew, Insert Special Character, Insert ID, Insert Hyperlink, etc.
Consequently, editing metadata is as simple as clicking Metadata Editor (1-click away on the toolbar) and adjusting available fields.
Furthermore, the 0.5.9 version exposes headings via pleasant-to-the-eye square icons, properly expressing the mentioned icons with relevant visual markers, such as h1 (Heading 1), h2, h6, etc.
Sigil 0.5.9 introduces (since 0.5.3) a refreshed Preferences dialog, featuring font size, font type, font usage (under Appearance), Clean Source (new addition, allowing users to automatically clean and format HTML source code via Pretty Print, Off, HTML Tidy), user interface language (under Language) and an improved Spellcheck Dictionaries.
The mentioned refinements, along with numerous changes and enhancements, come to encompass a more editing-friendly strengthened Sigil release.
