VLC media player 2.0.2 released with numerous bug fixes (PPA available)
After Ubuntu is installed, there are available, via Ubuntu Software Center, thousands of players, utilities, tools, etc, from where the user can easily select suitable software for numerous needs, desires, intentions, etc, applications usually build around a decent bundle of features.
Nevertheless, there are also applications designed with a massive amount of functionalities, that present the user "almost everything" related to that application's "nature", such as Calibre, LibreOffice, VLC, etc, tools that, regardless of their already serious stack of features, continue to constantly add new or improved abilities.
VLC media player 2.0.2 "Twoflower" has been released, as an important update in the 2.x series, mainly oriented towards enhanced stability.
Blu-Ray and various codecs enhancements, improved subtitles auto-detection, enhanced plugins (CrystalHD, etc) and hundreds of bug fixes, come to encompass a more stable media player.
How do we install VLC 2.0.2?
Add the following official PPA (Precise, Quantal)
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:videolan/stable-daily
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install vlc
VLC 2.0.2 has already landed in Ubuntu 12.10 (Ubuntu Software Center).
