Wallpaper changer Variety 0.4.8 adds fancy clock, Facebook sharing and visual wall history

Variety is a powerful utility that gathers, manages and per-user-preferences displays wallpapers, in relation to a customizable interval of time.

Variety uses, as wallpapers sources, both local images and online-based backgrounds, basically, allowing the user to benefit a hybrid approach, by displaying on the desktop images from folders (such as Pictures, mycustomfolder, etc) and widely known online sources (wallpapers.net, flickr, wallbase, etc).

Variety has been updated to version 0.4.8, introducing new features, as well as optimizing its overall usage experience.

The new 0.4.8 release introduces the ability to display a fancy clock on the desktop, positioned on the bottom-right corner independent of the wallpaper, consequently, changing (through Variety) the wallpaper, keeps the clock "running".

Variety 0.4.8 can be used with or without an actual wallpaper-changing-cycle yet retaining the clock, meaning, unchecking the Change wallpaper every (under Variety appindicator-->Preferences-->General) and checking Draw a nice big digital clock on the desktop, showing the current time and date (under Variety appindicator-->Preferences-->Effects-->Clock), exposes the pleasant-to-the-eye clock on the desktop.

A definitely interesting aspect of Variety is its manner of managing and exposing its history (the wallpapers used as desktop backgrounds), clicking on Variety appindicator-->Show History, displays the used wallpapers grouped into an wallpaper-sequence with big thumbnails on the bottom of the screen, furthermore, clicking on a wall, setts the clicked wallpaper as desktop background; the history can be used as a quick way of accessing a wall from various sequence positions (as opposed to scrolling with the mouse wheel on the Variety appindicator and/or clicking Previous, Next that set wallpapers one-by-one without previews).

Enjoying beautiful images on the desktop (originating from websites) could trigger a need for sharing particular images, tendency easily satisfiable via Variety's support to share backgrounds on Facebook.

While seeing a preferred image, navigate to Variety appindicator-->Share on Facebook, action that summons a handy dialog with image preview and, on-demand, support to type descriptions, details, etc, basically, a fast effective manner of publishing images at a press of a button with proper default settings (by clicking OK, the image is published with a web link if the text area is left empty, or the wall is published with both text description and link, or, by checking Do not ask anymore, always use the text above, the sharing process becomes "automatic").
