The work on Australis for Linux has started

Speed, stability, reliability and massive amount of add-ons are among the Firefox qualities appreciated by millions and millions of users from across the world.

Nevertheless, it seems that various users have constantly expressed demands for a visual Firefox refresh, aimed at refining its look & feel, thus taking its current state towards a more polished modern interface.

The Mozilla developers' response is Australis, the upcoming default theme for Firefox, featuring rounded corners, stylish elements, pleasant-to-the-eye shapes, essentially, an overall good-looking theme.

Weeks ago, the Firefox developers announced the development start on Australis for Windows and the following-in-the-near-future work on its Linux flavor, development completion approximated to first quarter of 2013.

It seems that the work on Australis for Linux has already started, as stated by Mozilla's Mike Conley, who hours-ago posted a tweet "I'm working on bringing curvy Australis tabs to Firefox for Linux".

As seen in the below image, the development energy is focused on Ubuntu's Ambiance, too, where the stylish tabs are properly expressed and noticeable.
