Xnoise music player 0.2.12 adds new icon, Unity launcher integration and numerous visual refinements
Xnoise is a lightweight yet powerful and versatile music player, designed with an easy track management experience in mind, while incorporating solid online services (such as Ubuntu One Music Store and Magnatune).
Xnoise 0.2.12 has been released, release presenting itself as an in-depth meaningful refresh of both settings and its overall media playing experience.
Clear user-friendly messages are an aspect considered by the new 0.2.12 version, starting Xnoise (for the first time), faces the user with a clean area, adding media (video clips supported, too) is to be hassle-free achieved by hitting the Add media button.
HUD support is an already common feature of Xnoise, furthermore the newly updated music player enlarges its desktop integration by adding an enhanced Unity quicklist, consequently, accessing Play/Pause, Next, Previous, Stop can be accessed directly from its Unity launcher quicklist.
Usually, a relevant aspect of an application is its main icon, icon that gathers and expresses key points and focuses of an application; Xnoise 0.2.12 introduces a definitely pleasant-to-the-eye app icon, featuring refreshed colors, more proportioned look & feel and lighter "attitude".
A definitely interesting addition is the newly refined Settings dialog, being now repositioned inside a specific panel with ON/OFF switches (thus removing the "old" check-boxes) and properly organized configuration options (categorized in User Interface, Additional, Lyric Providers, Music Stores).
Basically, enabling/disabling options can be achieved via a clear clickable interface.
After tweaking various configuration options, in order to return to the home view (to be able to play content), the user is to click the home monochrome icon, monochrome "trend" sustained by Add local folder and Add media stream under Media, minor yet visible additions (bearing an up-to-date feel).
Settings are located under Xnoise-->Edit-->Preferences
Playing a track, pushes its cover art on the toolbar, hovering the mouse pointer over it, displays the album art in Xnoise' main view (the default behavior), double-clicking on it, displays the album art in fullscreen mode (in order to revert the view to a windowed unmaximized state, double-click on it).
The 0.2.12 release brings new keyboard shortcuts, such as Alt+C (Clear tracklist), Ctrl+P (Previous track), Ctrl+Space (Toggle play), Ctrl+N (Next track), Alt+F (Show Video Fullscreen).
Along with the mentioned features, Xnoise 0.2.12 adds improved equalizer, optimized album art update, code cleanups and bug fixes.
